The 30-year sentence for murder of Dimitri Fricano, the 34-year-old from Biella who stabbed his 28-year-old girlfriend Erika Preti in the house where the two were staying on 11 June 2017 , stabbed to death during the holidays in San Teodoro is final.

The first section of the Court of Cassation considered the verdict of the Sassari Court of Appeal to be fully valid, recognizing the aggravating circumstances of cruelty, abject motives and the simulation of the crime for trying to stage a failed robbery at home.

The Supreme Court judges also confirmed the compensation, a provisional amount of 50 thousand euros each for Erika's parents and the payment of court fees by Fricano.

The defenders of the man, Alessandra Guarini and Roberto Onida, aimed at a reduction of the sentence asking for the exclusion of the aggravating circumstances for which they alleged the semi-insanity of the accused. The plaintiff lawyer Lorenzo Soro had instead requested the confirmation of the sentence for Fricano, detained in the Ivrea prison.
