The Carabinieri have identified and arrested three people believed to be responsible for several thefts and muggings committed on the Costa Smeralda in recent weeks.

The three arrested—apparently French of Maghreb origin—are accused of robbing a German tourist in Porto Cervo of a watch worth over €350,000. During a struggle, the woman fell and was hospitalized with a head injury.

The images, captured by the Costa Smeralda consortium's security agency , were crucial in identifying the suspects. The Carabinieri have identified three men who have also carried out other thefts. In particular, in recent days—it seems like yesterday, but confirmation is pending—they are said to have stolen another highly valuable watch from a tourist.

The Carabinieri intercepted their trail following this latest action: the arrest was made in Olbia, while the three were changing a rental car.

According to investigations, the trio of alleged thieves also committed residential burglaries: they were a specialized gang that struck throughout Europe.

The three, who were operating with their faces uncovered, were reportedly identified by one of the victims after being shown footage captured by the Costa Smeralda Consortium's video surveillance system, which proved crucial. The group moved with great speed and awareness, carefully selecting individuals who were wearing high-end brand watches as they strolled through luxury boutiques, exclusive restaurants, and bars.
