Corruption and exchange vote, regional councilor under house arrest. Two other arrests and 12 suspects

A regional councilor, his purse bearer and an entrepreneur under house arrest on charges of corruption, attempted fraud and swap vote. This morning the soldiers of the economic and financial police unit of the Guardia di Finanza carried out the three orders on the orders of the investigating judge Giorgio Altieri in an investigation that also involved twelve other people.

According to the accusations, the regional councilor Valerio De Giorgi, elected in Fortza Paris and then immediately passing through the Mixed group, until last November president of the Budget Commission, inspector of the Guardia di Finanza now on leave and municipal councilor in Quartucciu, would have received four apartments by an entrepreneur in exchange for an amendment that would have allowed Quartucciu to intervene. Marco Pili and the entrepreneur Corrado Deiana ended up under house arrest with him, who would have agreed with the regional councilor the text of the amendment then approved.

The investigation, coordinated by the prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia, started with a complaint of threats by De Giorgi himself, but from the analysis of his mobile phone the agreement and the alleged corruption emerged. The blitz and arrests this morning.

From the survey papers also emerges the story of a maxi loan to the very young, and not very active, Pro Loco Città di Cagliari: in 2020 it should have collected 650 thousand euros for three years from the Region. According to the allegations attributable to De Giorgi and which had among its members his Pili bag holder as well as other friends and acquaintances, the economic resources should have been allocated with a budget adjustment to develop a project on tourist accommodation in Cagliari. From the Municipality of Cagliari, and from the mayor Paolo Truzzu, the go-ahead for the birth of the Pro Loco City of Cagliari never arrived and the municipal councilor of the Progressives, Matteo Massa, had denounced this very high funding to a recently founded association. So the regional council commission had written off the funding. The financiers, however, have dug, triggering the accusation of attempted fraud.
