The ferry service between the ports of Santa Teresa Gallura and Bonifacio has been suspended . The fears of many have come true, especially those truck drivers who use the ferry service between Sardinia and Corsica daily.
The Moby ship Giraglia is stuck in Corsica, blocked because it failed to pass inspections by French authorities and was not given permission to travel between the two ports.
Like the Ichnusa and the Bunifazziu, none of the three vessels deployed to make the connection are capable of going to sea at the moment.
Today, perhaps by morning, the inspection and certification process for the old Giraglia should be completed, allowing it to resume operating the service contracted with the Sardinia Region. Otherwise, Moby would be forced to remove the Bunifazziu from the Livorno shipyard, where it is currently being repaired.
"The crisis in connections between Sardinia and Corsica is a shame waiting to happen , a situation that could and should have been avoided. Today, Sardinian businesses and workers who maintain essential trade with the French island are paying the price of unacceptable delays, cancellations, and disruptions," said Lega MP Dario Giagoni , calling out the regional transport councilor. "What happened to the oversight efforts that should have prevented this disaster? It is inconceivable that in 2026 we continue to travel on veritable tramps of the sea, ships that belong in museums and not on our routes . Once again, Sardinia is held hostage by absurd dynamics and a total lack of planning, while the regional government, which promised solutions to every problem, remains silent and abandons citizens and businesses. This is a politically serious silence that Sardinia does not deserve."
