The new connection system between the Govossai and Olai basins will come into operation tomorrow, thanks to the installation of a new lifting pump, arrived directly from Germany.
At the Govossai Dam facilities in Fonni, the President of the Board of Directors of Abbanoa, Giuseppe Sardu, will illustrate the operation of the new plant, which allows for improved water supply for the municipalities served, ensuring greater safety and continuity in water distribution, even in critical periods.
This new infrastructure comes after a long period of drought that had put the basins on red alert. In response to the situation, Abbanoa had announced the need to introduce restrictions in the distribution of water starting from January 27, providing for a supply every 24 hours. However, thanks to the abundant rains of last week, which interrupted the prolonged drought, the restrictions were cancelled, allowing a return to a regular distribution of water.
With this pump, Abbanoa expects to be able to guarantee for months the supply of Nuoro and the other towns that depend on the Jann'e Ferru purifier only with the Govossai that collects the snow from the Bruncuspina, so Olai continues to fill ensuring a supply always ready. This is one of the commitments made by Abbanoa in the last meetings of the permanent table on the water emergency in the municipalities served by the Jann'e Ferru aqueduct: Nuoro, Bolotana, Fonni, Gavoi, Lei, Lodine, Mamoiada, Ollolai, Oniferi, Orgosolo, Orani, Orotelli, Ottana, Sarule and Silanus (and in case of need also Oliena and Dorgali currently supplied by the Su Gologone spring).
