Reappointed by acclamation by the provincial delegates at the Association Assembly, attended by over 80 artisans, Marco Rau, a 53-year-old entrepreneur from Sassari in the food sector, will remain at the head of the Sassari Artisans for the next three years.
In his role he will be supported by the Deputy Vice President, Maria Amelia Lai, by the Vice Presidents Carmelo Cano and Walter Manos, and by the other members such as Franco Ponti, Maria Francesca Maniga, Vincenzo Casiddu, Giancarlo Sanna and Adolfo Nudda.
The confirmed president recalled the establishment of the Sassari Artisan Organization that took place 80 years ago: on February 27, 1945. And he added: "Today, after more than three years, we can say that we have overcome the most critical phase following the pandemic, but the challenges remain. Our goal is to strengthen the artisan fabric, focusing on innovation and sustainability."
Craftsmanship is a pillar of the Sardinian economy : in 2024, Sardinia has 34,350 craft businesses, representing 20.1% of the regional total and employing approximately 80,000 people. Sassari and Gallura stand out for a growth rate of 1.23% in 2023, among the highest in Italy.
