A flash of ancient light crossed the Sardinian sky . This evening, comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) appeared among the clouds above the country church of Sant'Elena in Sinnai, providing a rare and evocative spectacle, captured by photographer Alessandro Casula.

The shot, taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and a 70-200mm lens, captures the comet's bright trail as it seems to watch over the small building nestled in the silence of the countryside.

Discovered on January 3 by the Mount Lemmon Survey in Arizona, Lemmon is a comet with an estimated orbital period of 1,350 years.

Its closest approach to the Sun, perihelion, is expected on November 8, when it will pass within 0.53 astronomical units.
