The cold of winter breaks into Sardinia. And the first real snow of the season arrives. The regional civil protection has issued an alert bulletin, valid from noon tomorrow, 18 January.

A vast cyclonic structure, with a main baric minimum over the North Sea, extends to the western Mediterranean and part of North Africa", the forecast reads, "in combination with a high pressure field in the Atlantic, it causes cold advection which tomorrow will reach also Sardinia and will give rise to a significant drop in temperatures associated with snowfall".

The notice also states that “the level of snow will gradually decrease until it drops to 800 metres. The expected accumulation on the ground will be weak or locally moderate”.

The conditions will not improve the following day, according to the Civil Protection: "Thursday the expected precipitation phenomena will be weak and isolated, however the snow level could drop to 600 metres".
