Carabinieri officers intervened overnight in Iglesias , arresting a 35-year-old local man, unemployed and already known to the police, who was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell. A 36-year-old resident of the town, also unemployed, was also charged at large with resisting a public official.

The officers, after noticing suspicious activity around the 35-year-old's home, caught him shortly after he had handed over three doses of cocaine, weighing a total of 1.8 grams , to the 36-year-old. Upon seeing the patrol, the 36-year-old attempted to get rid of the drugs and run away, shoving the officers, who nevertheless managed to quickly subdue him and secure him.

Subsequent searches of his person and home led to the discovery of another 7.8 grams of cocaine, precision scales, cutting agents, packaging materials, and €705 in cash, divided into small denomination banknotes, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.

Once the incident was reconstructed, the man was then escorted to the police station and, once the formalities were completed, taken to court in Cagliari for the fast-track hearing scheduled for this morning by the Judicial Authority.
