Distracted driving due to cell phones as the main cause of accidents in Sassari. This is one of the details that emerged today during the meeting of the Provincial Observatory on road accidents during which the statistics on accidents that occurred in the province were analyzed and, with the support of the Director of the Highway Police of Sassari, the trend of accidents and, precisely, their origin was examined in depth for some stretches of road in the province, both urban and extra-urban.

Other reasons include driving under the influence of psychophysical alteration, exceeding speed limits, inadequate signage, poor infrastructure and the presence of construction sites along the route. The remedies considered are increased traffic police services, awareness and safety education initiatives and the improvement of road infrastructure through investments by road management bodies.

Prefect Grazia La Fauci chaired the meeting: an initiative attended by the provincial heads of the police forces, the commander of the traffic police, the provincial commander of the fire brigade, the extraordinary administrators of the Metropolitan City of Sassari and the province of Gallura Nord-Est, the commanders of the local police and some administrators of the municipalities of Sassari, Olbia, Alghero, Porto Torres, Tempio and Arzachena, representatives of the Provincial Office of Civil Motorization, of ANAS - Sassari network management area, of the Operations Center - 118 of Sassari, of the Automobile Club Italia of Sassari.
