Castiadas, head-on car-truck collision on the 125: a twenty-five-year-old from Cagliari dead, one seriously injured
The crash near Olia Speciosa, Davide Sapienza loses his life. He was driving a Clio which collided head-on with a lorry.
A very violent impact, with Sapienza losing his life instantly. The driver of the heavy vehicle - Daniele Spiga, 41 years old, from Scano Montiferro, - was transported in serious condition to Brotzu by air ambulance. His passenger, a fifty-nine year old from Assemini, was transferred to San Marcellino di Muravera aboard an ambulance: the injured are not in danger of life.
The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the San Vito Company intervened on site and, coordinated by Major Massimo Meloni, carried out the legal investigations.
The firefighters of the San Vito station also intervened. During the investigations and rescue operations, as well as to allow the removal of the vehicles, Anas closed the state road and traffic was diverted onto alternative roads.
According to an initial reconstruction, the cause of the crash would not be a risky overtaking: Sapienza's car - illness is not excluded, but not even distraction - invaded the lane in which the truck was approaching, the driver swerved to right in an attempt to avoid the impact, but every attempt was in vain.
