A sea turtle was rescued in Porto Tramatzu, Teulada.

It was some citizens, who were sailing offshore yesterday afternoon, who noticed the struggling turtle in the waves. They loaded it on board and then contacted the toll-free number of the Forestry Corps, 1515, to report the circumstance and communicate that they were bringing the specimen ashore.

The Operations Room activated the staff of the Teulada Forestry Station who took delivery of the turtle and then transported it to the Nora Cetacean Center for treatment. It is a young specimen of the Caretta caretta species, 8/10 years old and about 50 centimeters long, probably debilitated by organisms that had caused its slowness and difficulty in movement.

The Caretta caretta will be monitored by the Center's experts and will be released as soon as possible (not before September as the protocol that regulates the rescue of sea turtles prohibits their reintroduction into the sea in the month of August, due to the intense traffic of the boats that characterizes the period).
