Great apprehension for Antonello Lai, known to all as "Ziu Lai", a lifelong journalist who has narrated the vicissitudes of the weakest. Yesterday evening, during a two-week hospitalization at Brotzu, he suffered a cardiac arrest and is admitted to intensive care in serious.
The news was published on his page, the Zone: «I only ask you for a prayer for Antonello», writes his friend and colleague Chicco Lecca: «Antonello is a man distracted for himself but never for others... it is difficult for me to write because desperation and tears block my sight. I am angry. We experienced many adventures together but I can assure you that alone and limping he did things that no one could ever do. The car always full of food parcels. He brought very heavy parcels of food to many people who really had nothing... I swear nothing... They called him at all hours and he left even when he was walking badly, when his foot was bleeding, when he was out of breath and even if he had to have lunch or dinner. It didn't matter, he sometimes went together but many times alone. He always had an extra package in the car for someone last minute. He always did it without ever asking for anything in return and in silence... he listened to anyone who called him even for hours sometimes simply because there was a problem with a water leak in a condominium. He called me and told me: "Chicco, this family has a problem, help me we have to go...", because in truth sometimes I resisted a bit, but then I would pick him up and we would go and I swear he was always right. He always saw beyond the news. He always saw people's hearts. Rare gift of these times and also of past ones. We have always done the same things for 40 years and yet when there was a need he was the only one they were looking for."
«My dear friend – he concludes – don't leave it to me that we have to help so many people. Please, just a prayer, don't leave me alone. I don't know how I will spend the night but I assure you one thing, dear friend, that whatever happens, everything will be fine because you are a shining light that never goes out and will never go out. A prayer for a good man."
