Illegal weapons, explosives, and a large quantity of marijuana. This is the outcome of a dawn operation conducted by the Carabinieri in Orune, which led to the arrest of two people and the execution of several searches as part of an investigation coordinated by the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office.
In the early hours of the morning, officers from the Nuoro Provincial Command, with the support of the Sardinian Hunters Helicopter Squadron, the Olbia Helicopter Unit, and the Anti-Crime Squad Unit, executed a precautionary custody order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Nuoro Court against two individuals residing or domiciled in Orune. At the same time , numerous personal and home searches were also carried out on a third suspect . This order is the result of a complex investigative effort conducted by the Carabinieri of the Bitti Company, with the support of the Investigative Unit of the Nuoro Provincial Command.
The investigations have led to the collection of serious evidence against the suspects , held responsible, to varying degrees, for the carrying and illegal possession of common firearms, receiving stolen goods, and the possession and dealing of narcotic substances.
According to investigators' findings, the group operated regularly in the Orune area. Among those under investigation is a man previously held for another crime in the Massama prison, believed to be the organization's top leader.
The investigative activities documented a consolidated drug dealing network and confirmed the availability of several firearms, a factor that would have aggravated the level of danger of the gang.
During the searches conducted this morning, officers seized two rifles with erased serial numbers, two pistols also with erased serial numbers, numerous rounds of ammunition of various calibers, approximately two meters of detonating cord, 340 grams of quarry explosives, and approximately 850 grams of marijuana. The material found constitutes an important corroboration of the ongoing investigation.
