Dramatic accident yesterday evening on the outskirts of the town of Orune, where a car ended up in a deep and steep slope, right under the Carabinieri barracks. Antonio De Serra, 68, a radiologist from the ASL of Nuoro, lost his life in the impact, and his body was recovered by the firefighters after some time with the help of the Saf (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) team, specialized in interventions in rough environments.

A tragedy that in an instant spread from house to house creating despair: the doctor was esteemed and well-known.

Very few details are known about the accident that occurred after 9:30 pm in Via Pigliaru.

Perhaps the doctor was returning to his home on the outskirts of the town, located between Corso Repubblica and Via Chessa. The courtyard of the house overlooks a deep embankment. What happened is still being ascertained. For some reason the car driven by the doctor put its wheels over the precipice right where the courtyard is, ending up at the bottom of the embankment, tens of meters deep. Perhaps a distraction, perhaps an illness, or perhaps an incorrect maneuver. The investigations will clarify it.
