Campanedda in celebration, first mass of Fra Marco Antonio Uras

The Parish of Santa Maria a Torres and the whole community of Campanedda , a fraction of Sassari located in the Nurra, experienced a unique ecclesial and social moment.

The celebration of the first Holy Mass of one of his sons, Friar Marco Antonio Uras, a member of the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor, belonging to the Custody of the Holy Land.

The ceremony took place outdoors and began at 19 , in the churchyard. Many people were present and during the function there were moments of joy and emotion. Also the archbishop of Sassari Mons. Gian Franco Saba and the bishop of Alghero - Bosa Mons. Mauro Maria Morfino solemnly attended the event.

The whole agricultural village, and not only, therefore closed around Fra Marco, born in Campanedda 41 years ago . Ten years ago he entered the postulancy of the Friars Minor in Montefalco (Pg), which was followed in 2014 by the period of novitiate at the Convent of La Verna (Ar), where he made his first profession in 2015.

Immediately after, being part of the Custody of the Holy Land (the Ecclesiastical Province of the Friars Minor which takes care, in the name of the Catholic Church, of the holy places of the life of Jesus) the transfer to Jerusalem , where he continued his spiritual formation and theological studies. .

Friar Marco Antonio Uras was ordained a deacon in 2021. On 29 June he was ordained a presbyter by Mgr. Pier Battista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, in the Church of San Salvatore in Jerusalem.
