"It's madness." "A disgrace." "We can't take it anymore." Cagliari, 2 p.m., where Via Roma ends and Viale Diaz begins. The anger of drivers bounces off the open windows.
Today in Cagliari, the double lane narrowing began to allow the metro construction work to progress. The result is a single lane both towards Amsicora and towards Piazza Matteotti. Chaos and long waits .
The first major problem is the start of Viale Diaz, heading towards Poetto. Cars and motorcycles arrive from both Via XX Settembre and Via Regina Margherita, while CTM and ARST buses enter from Via Roma. A queue forms immediately. And since there are cars coming from all directions and having to turn onto Via Pirastu, it feels like being on a bumper car track.
"Over the years," says Marco, 43, "they've managed to mess up even a city like Cagliari, which had no traffic problems." And Andrea, 62, says, "There are construction sites everywhere, even across the street on Viale Bonaria, but no coordination."
On the other side of the queues, you end up more or less under the steps of Bonaria. Because during rush hour, the line of buses would reach that point. "Someone's going crazy, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten to this point," protests a man in line. "No, I won't reveal their name."
Barbara, 40, gets angry: "We've exceeded the limit." Alessandro, 50, sitting in the passenger seat, disagrees: "We're only there for five minutes. I don't see any chaos."
