The pediatric ambulance donated to the Cagliari hospital by the "Giulia's dream" association was inaugurated this morning in the Brotzu garden, which was able to purchase it thanks to a fundraiser. Inside, the vehicle is fuchsia and there is a hook for the thermo cradle, necessary for transporting premature babies from the Brotzu and other island hospitals to the Monserrato University Hospital, where there is neonatal intensive care.
"This ambulance is the result of many hearts that have come together, as Giulia wanted," said Eleonora Galia, president of the association and mother of the little girl who died at the age of 10 due to cancer. «The message is: flourish again. Since something as bad as his passing, we've been trying to help other kids. With the money left over from the 81,000 euros donated for the car, we will buy surgical medical principals, chair beds for mothers, and many other things that Sardinian hospitals ask us for," he concluded.
This is the first ambulance totally dedicated to children that a Sardinian hospital has ever had.
«It's a beautiful day», said the general director of Arnas Brotzu Agnese Foddi, «this beautiful initiative was born from the love that the family has for Giulia, in which many associations have collaborated. It's an important gift for us." After being diagnosed with cancer, at the age of 6, Giulia underwent surgery for the first time right at Brotzu, and this is one of the reasons why it was decided to deliver the ambulance right to the hospital in via Peretti. Edoardo Tocco, president of the municipal council, was present at the inauguration for the Municipality of Cagliari, who wanted to have his say on the “Sogno di Giulia” initiative: «We need to protect both the hospital with its pediatric center but above all the children. The municipality is there."
