Siotto is the first school occupied in Cagliari. After three hours of lessons and recess, the students gathered in an assembly on the stairs inside the institute. The decision, which had been in the air for a few days, has been made: the protest starts today with the occupation of the high school. The mobilization should last at least a few days. The reasons? School buildings that aren't right, the kids say.

The list of things that don't work is long, explain the institute representatives Francesco Masala and Alessua Murtas: from the elevator that needs repairing to the stair lift for the disabled. The defibrillator that wasn't working was replaced only recently.

Another request: new sports fields. Those that exist, the kids report, are obsolete. The students also ask for the presence of a psychologist at school. In recent weeks many young people had also gone on strike due to the cold, a problem that was later resolved. « We ask for school buildings and services suited to our needs», they explain, «the principal himself, after the tragedy in via Peretti, asked to fix a speed bump in viale Trento in front of the school. But it's not there yet."

Now the students will remain at school day and night and will carry out initiatives divided into working groups. «Some classrooms will remain open for studying, reading or drawing», specify the representatives, «outside we will organize sporting events. Also to get to know each other better and socialize given that especially the fourth and fifth grades have been greatly penalized by Covid and distance learning."
