Cagliari's mayor and Cagliari Calcio president, Tommaso Giulini, met again to resolve issues surrounding the new stadium project.
The face-to-face meeting is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Tuesday, at Palazzo Bacaredda. Representing the Rossoblu club will also be CEO Stefano Melis, engineer Alessandro Gosti, and lawyer Marco Cerritelli.
Cagliari is convinced it has done everything possible. But in recent weeks, the club's situation has changed. And this, just moments before the finish line, is causing concern for Cagliari. The City Council, for its part, fears economic and financial risks . Three council committees have met in recent hours to examine the Economic and Financial Plan (PEF) for the future "Gigi Riva".
The main obstacle is the draft agreement . The text has not yet been submitted to the councilors for consideration because there is still no full agreement between the Municipality of Cagliari and Cagliari Calcio.
"Discussions on the agreement are still ongoing," explained Giuseppe Macciotta, City Councilor for Sport. He added: "The City has demonstrated, through the opinions and support provided by the consultant, a further tightening of the regulations designed to ensure there are no doubts whatsoever about any form of transfer of financial risk and the execution of the project . This is a requirement that, in our draft agreement, constitutes an essential element that I have tried to defend in every forum. Our position is unwavering."
"These will be crucial days," Macciotta continued, "to finalize a text that unquestionably embraces all our positions, without exception. If, as we hope, this conclusion comes soon, we will convene a second joint committee to examine the final text of the agreement. If this happens, we will have a committee hearing by the end of the week."
