Moments of fear in Cagliari, where an inmate of the Uta prison, taken by the Penitentiary Police to the hospital to have a broken hand treated, attacked the officers, trying to escape.

The Penitentiary Police Union Uil Pa reported the episode in a note, which reads: "While waiting for the report in the emergency room, the prisoner suddenly tried to escape by breaking free from his escort. A desperate chase ensued, with the officers catching up with the fugitive after a few minutes, pinning him to the ground . The man was then escorted back to the armored vehicle, but as he approached the van he began to kick and punch with the intent of hitting the police officers and then tried to break down the cell gate with violent kicks and to threaten to kill the officers and their families ."

"We have been drawing attention for some time now - says the general secretary of Uil Pa Michele Cireddu - to the need to provide the Penitentiary Police with the resources necessary to guarantee their right to safety and, consequently, protect the safety of citizens and public security".

«The attempted escape – continues Cireddu – carried out in a city hospital exposes once again the lack of a hospital detention ward , provided for by an ordinary law of the State, but never built for reasons unknown until now».
