Metalworkers are once again crossing their arms in Sardinia. This morning there were about a hundred of them in Cagliari, all workers in the sector, coming from every part of the island, for another eight hours of strike that are added to those of last month.

They met in Piazza Palazzo, in front of the Prefecture, to ask for a new contract (the old one expired in June last year) that satisfies their demands. Requests that include a wage increase, a reduction in working hours and the unblocking of overtime and they swear that it will not be the last picket if the other side (Federmeccanica, Confapi and Assistal) does not sit down again at the negotiating table with the unions.

"Despite the 16 hours of strike already carried out - Fiom Cgil, Fsm Cisl and Uilm Uil jointly declared - the counterpart continues to reject our requests, voted by the workers, opposing a counter platform with contents that we consider absolutely unacceptable".

A meeting with the Prefect is planned, at which the three trade unions will present their reasons.
