"Dear citizen, dear citizen": this is how the phone call, letter, email, or even text message from Callmia begins, arriving at the homes of 24,000 somewhat "distracted" taxpayers who, despite being obliged to, have not paid all or part of their 2020 IMU or TARI taxes . A friendly reminder that will allow them to make amends by paying the established amount, without adding a cent in penalties, and therefore without any financial burden.
The resources
Callmia, a Sardinian company based in Cagliari that manages and recovers debt, was commissioned by the Municipality to recover approximately €15 million (€10 million for unpaid TARI taxes alone). This operation represents a step forward in the new "dialogue strategy" launched by the Municipality to transform its relationship with taxpayers, which has proven highly effective in its national experience. "The administration is offering the opportunity to regularize a past debt without charging interest," explains Giovanni Ena, director of the Municipal Tax Office. "Everything will be handled amicably; residents will receive an invitation from the company's staff to review their accounts. Naturally," he adds, "those who fail to take advantage of this opportunity will receive a tax assessment notice at the end of the year, along with penalties and interest, as established by law." The difference with audits is that this procedure has nothing to do with controls; it occurs during the "physiological" phase of compliance and prevents the occurrence of a tax pathology.
