Drivers from Cagliari are the most fined in Sardinia . The Sardinian capital, with almost 4.4 million euros, in fact turned out to be the municipality that, in 2022, collected the largest proceeds on the island deriving from penalties linked to the verification of violations of the Highway Code .

This is the figure that emerges from a joint analysis carried out by Facile.it and Assicurazione.it, and carried out by examining the reports of the proceeds of violations of the Highway Code published by the provincial capital cities of Sardinia.

Following in the particular "ranking" are Sassari (1 million) and Oristano (852 thousand euros), followed by Nuoro (with almost 301 thousand euros) and Carbonia (just under 120 thousand).

Comparing the sums collected with the number of cars and motorcycles registered in the motorization registers, however, the Sardinian ranking changes, even if not for the first position: Cagliari is still in first place, where - in 2022 - the "per capita expenditure ” for fines related to violations of the Highway Code was 37 euros. The drivers from Oristano follow in the regional ranking, who on average in 2022 had to pay fines of an amount equal to 34 euros, and - albeit at a great distance - from Sassari (11 euros) and Nuoro (10 euros). Once again, Carbonia closes the ranking, where the "per capita fine" was only 6 euros.

Limiting the analysis to only the proceeds deriving from violations of the maximum speed limits, it emerges that among the capital cities of Sardinia, the one with the highest revenues is once again Cagliari (311 thousand euros in 2022).
