The man believed to be responsible for the "fake Carabinieri marshal" scam which took place in Nuoro against a relative of Alessandra Todde , president of the Sardinia Region, was arrested in Naples.

The soldiers from the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Nuoro Company and the Carabinieri Station were on his trail, and the investigating judge had issued a precautionary custody order against the suspect. The man was tracked down during the night in Naples, in collaboration with the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Napoli Stella, and ended up in handcuffs. He is now in Poggioreale prison.

Following the complaint presented by the victim, who realized the scam, the arrested man entered her home and, misleading her, took possession of money and precious objects of great value.

Having analyzed dozens of videos taken from a camera present in Nuoro, and carried out technical investigations, the carabinieri traced back to a vehicle, which was found to be in use by the suspect. Complex activities of cross-referencing the elements acquired made it possible to identify the arrested person as the person who had entered the home of the mother and aunt of the president of the Sardinia Region, deceiving them and obtaining money and gold jewellery.

The investigations are still ongoing: there may be accomplices.
