Another day of fruitless searches in Burcei in an attempt to find Cristian Carta, who disappeared from his home on the night of December 23rd. Reports abound. The thirty-seven-year-old was reportedly spotted in Burcei and Assemini at the same time: an unreliable rumor, with law enforcement pursuing every lead, no hypothesis ignored. There's been a massive mobilization in Burcei: Carabinieri, forest rangers, and volunteers are still working, coordinated by the Cagliari Prefecture. The Municipality and Mayor Simone Monni himself have also been mobilized, with the council chamber made available to law enforcement participating in the search.
The night he disappeared, between Tuesday and Wednesday, it was pouring with rain in Burcei and very cold. Cristian Carta apparently left home without even wearing a raincoat to protect himself from the rain and cold. So far, all the trails in the municipality have been searched.
The search has already been extended to the more inland areas, not to mention the rumors coming from Cagliari and its hinterland. These reports, unfortunately, have so far proven unfounded. "There's a huge outcry," Mayor Simone Monni said today. "Obviously, the concern is growing as the days go by. Collaboration with the institutions is growing, as is the entire town, in the hope that Cristian has found refuge somewhere. This is everyone's hope. I thank everyone involved in the search."
