A former prison officer has been definitively convicted of smuggling drugs and mobile phones into Bancali prison, in Sassari .
A silent investigation carried out by the same colleagues for months, with stakeouts and tailings . Having sent the outcome of the first investigations to the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor delegated the Penitentiary Police itself to continue the investigation.
The agent was arrested and then convicted in all three levels of judgement .
«The operation confirms that the Penitentiary Police is a healthy and efficient body, capable of identifying and expelling those who do not wear the uniform with honor. Unfortunately similar situations can occur in every Administration but it is crucial to be able to immediately identify any anomalies . It fills us with pride to note that the Public Prosecutor of Sassari has delegated our same policemen who started the investigations to continue and complete them», says the general secretary of the Uil PA Penitentiary Police of Sardinia Michele Cireddu .
"We hope that this trust - he concludes - will be granted to us more often, given that the numerous investigations delegated to our bodies have always been completed with brilliant results".
