Environmentalists and antimilitarists in front of the headquarters of the regional environmental department in Cagliari to protest against the expansion of the Rwm bomb factory in Domusnovas , controlled by the German multinational armaments company Rheinmetall.

The banner placed in front of Viale Trieste is eloquent: “Stop Rwm” , red writing on a white background.

The protesters asked for a meeting with Councillor Laconi "to represent the absolute inappropriateness of the Region to accept the conclusions of the ex-post environmental impact assessment study presented by Rwm Italia SpA after the expansion of the Domusnovas plant was deemed illegitimate by two rulings of the Council of State ".

Rwm, it is recalled, «has been trying for more than two years to obtain the approval of the Region to activate the new structures and production lines, but extremely critical data and elements have emerged from an environmental and hydrogeological point of view, such as to absolutely not allow the activation of the illegally built extensions ».

In their support, the protesters bring "well-founded and important reasons against the expansion, from experts in geology, environmental sciences, natural sciences, architecture", all "incorporated in the new series of observations that we forward to the Via service and bring to the attention of the councilor".

Massimo Coraddu, technical consultant of the committees, brings a dual motivation, pacifist and environmental: « We do not want bombs but we also ask for respect for an area with many constraints and at risk of hydrogeological disasters . While waiting for the next conferences of services of the Region, we are here to reiterate our no to the project».
