Two million euros are arriving to try to stem the new blue tongue epidemic which, despite the season, is affecting farms in Sardinia.

The Regional Council approved an amendment to the budget change which allocates the funds to the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute for the supply of the vaccine against the Btv 8 serotype, a strain arrived from Corsica.

DATA FROM A WEEK AGO:

For 2022, the sum of 800 thousand euros had been assigned but, as stated in the text of the corrective, considering that in November the positivity of serotype 8 was confirmed in some samples taken from various farms in the Middle Campidano and Oristano areas, the figure has now been increased.
