Ciriaco Calvisi passed away in his home in Bitti. He was 95 years old. He lived thirty years in hiding, and was pardoned in 1990 by the President of the Republic Francesco Cossiga.
He had been convicted of the murder of fellow countryman Andrea Orunesu, which occurred during the feast of San Francesco in Lula, in 1957.
In 1976 he was definitively sentenced to thirty years of imprisonment. For everyone he was the “good bandit”, because he always remained outside the criminal events of the time. A few weeks ago his wife Caterina, to whom he had always been very close, died.
