Protagonist (and case study) of the paths for European energy efficiency, the Municipality of Berchidda flew to Northern Europe to discuss with dozens of European partners for the creation of the energy community.
They are called Cyber Seas , a study project in which Berchidda took part in Helsinki to learn how to protect the electricity grid, and Masterpieces, the one held in Uppsala, with the aim of accompanying the Municipality in the creation of an energy community.
«We are confronting ourselves with the most advanced European realities and the commitment of the municipal administration has paid off with these results - says the mayor, Andrea Nieddu -. Not only that, we go further by also aiming for renewable energies».
In addition to replacing the distribution infrastructure, the old fifty-year-old cabins and current lighting with low-consumption LED lamps, the municipal administration has already acquired industrial areas to set up a photovoltaic system in order to satisfy a large part of the energy needs of the local community to reduce the cost of bills and respect the environment.
The municipal administration is investing around six million euros in public funding in the electricity grid, lighting, smart grids and the energy community.
