The autopsy will be carried out tomorrow, Thursday 4 January, on the body of Giovanni Fresi, the 58-year-old goldsmith from Arzachena, beaten to death by his 27-year-old son Michele.
The examination will be carried out by the medical examiner Salvatore Lorenzo at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Sassari, to ascertain the causes of death and the exact time it occurred. The technicians appointed by Anna Maria Cudoni, civil party and partner of Giovanni Fresi, represented by the lawyer Massimo Schirò of the Milan Bar will also participate in the exam.
The episode of violence dates back to the night of 28 December, when, after a lively evening of alcohol and drugs in some clubs in Arzachena, Michele Fresi first attacked a 24-year-old girl by breaking her jaw and then hit her father Giovanni with a wooden bat to the skull in a street in the historic centre, near viale Costa Smeralda.
The young man, in a state of agitation and, by his own admission, under the influence of acids and other substances, then also lashed out at two policemen who rushed to stop and arrest him.
Fresi is now in prison accused of murder, resisting a public official and causing injury. His trusted lawyer Pier Franco Tirotto defends him.
