Residents of the Castello neighborhood are up in arms over the dozens of resident parking spaces “cancelled” by a municipal ordinance (n. 61 of 01/13/2025) every day, all day (from 00.00 to 24.00, as stated on the signs), until June 30, due to the restoration work on the Bastione Saint-Remy .

In fact, trucks carrying materials and vehicles for the works to be carried out will have to pass through the narrow streets of the historic district of Cagliari, which is why streets such as Via Università and Via Del Cammino Nuovo must be cleared of cars .

A real blow for residents, already struggling with the long-standing problem of parking shortages . In particular, one wonders why parking bans with forced removal are also planned at night and on weekends , when the construction site will be closed and work interrupted.

In addition to the parking problem, there is also the problem of traffic: in the video images , the long line of cars arriving from via Santa Croce and via Dei Genovesi and blocked at the height of the Torre dell'Elefante to allow the passage of the enormous trucks , which with difficulty manage to turn towards via Università.

An inconvenience that could happen every day. An inconvenience that will be paid for once again by the residents, who observe: "We are in the interest of the various administrations only during the election period, then we disappear from the radar". A sad parable for a neighborhood that increasingly appears to be a tourist-catching postcard, good for taking selfies at sunset, and less and less a suitable place to live .
