The Court of Nuoro sentenced the "king of nightlife" of the eastern Sardinian coast, Mario Mele, and his partner Gianpietro Porcheddu to four years in prison for documentary bankruptcy.

The two had ended up on trial for a huge tax evasion of 17 million euros, earnings of the clubs Pata Pata of Agrustos and Buddha del mar of San Teodoro, very popular during the summer season.

The judges today also sentenced Raffaele Donadio, Ivan Deidda and his wife Szigeti Dorottoya to three years, all implicated in various capacities in the investigation that started 10 years ago with the arrest of the entrepreneurs.

During the long trial the accusations against them had been reduced, so much so that the defense lawyers, Mario Silvestro Pittalis and Giuseppe Mocci had asked for acquittal.

However, the hypothesis of the most serious crime, that of criminal association, was dropped, while other alleged tax offenses were found to be time-barred.
