Last June, a small delegation participated in one of the stages of the Cammino , the one from Nuoro to the Church of Nostra Signora di Gonare, between Sarule and Orani. Now, after having worked for a long time in the institute's carpentry shop, the inmates of Badu and Carros have decided to donate over twenty direction arrows to the association " Il Cammino di Bonaria ".
The delivery will arrive on Thursday, May 8, on the sidelines of an event of the “Il Maggio dei libri” review, during which the inmates will talk with Antonello Menne, author of the book: “Il ritorno. A piedi da Milano a Bonaria”.
In this book the author recounts the experience of August 2020, when, in the company of his children first and then other pilgrims, he left Milan to reach the Sanctuary of Bonaria in Cagliari. From that “return journey”, the Cammino di Bonaria was born, which will be presented on June 14 in Cagliari, at the Basilica of the Patron Saint of the Island. The arrows donated by the inmates will show the way to the pilgrims of the Monte Ortobene - Orani/Sarule - Nostra Signora di Gonare stage. “It is the first time in Italy that a prison has put itself concretely at the service of a journey and it is a source of pride and joy for us to know that we are walking under the protection of the Madonna di Bonaria but with the guidance offered by the inmates of Badu 'e Carros to whom we extend our most sincere thanks”, underlines Antonello Menne, president of the Association.
As June 14 approaches, the date of the official presentation of the Cammino in Cagliari, on May 9 in Onanì, at 11.30, there will be the ceremony of laying the “Siste Viator” stones, with speeches by Don Totoni Cosseddu, the mayor Clara Michelangeli, the councilor Liana Curreli, the artist Diego Asproni and Diego Carru of the association Il Cammino di Bonaria.
