A single item on the agenda: the attacks on armored vehicles , five "serious episodes" in recent years which culminated on 29 June with the attack on the Mondialpol vault in Sassari . For this reason Giuseppe De Matteis , prefect of Cagliari , has convened the regional conference of public security authorities for today at 11am. "We must take measures", began the prefect of the capital, who is responsible for coordinating the table extended to the judiciary given the emergency. De Matteis will speak to journalists at the end of the conference, but has already announced some important details . One is investigative: «The criminal nucleus that operates in Sardinia is always the same», he said. The other aspect is operational: «There will be interventions with the ministries on strengthening investigative work and personnel ».

The prefect of Cagliari then highlighted another worrying element: «The attacks on armored vehicles in recent years are not simple robberies». These are real war operations carried out by gangs who "shoot from six hundred metres, while the police are able to do so from a hundred". In short, there is currently an unequal capacity for action between the public security authorities and the underworld that revolves around attacks on armored vehicles. Furthermore, "the less controlled territories are affected", added the prefect.
Alongside De Matteis, the general prosecutor of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari , Luigi Patronaggio , the prosecutor of the capital's court, Rodolfo Maria Sabelli , and the one acting in Sassari , Paolo Francesco Piras . Also present were the prefects and police commissioners of Nuoro, Oristano and Sassari, plus the provincial and regional leaders of the Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza.
