Nine gunshots. One, definitive, to the temple. An execution yesterday morning for Beniamino Marongiu, killed at the age of 52 in Piazza Roma in Arzana, his hometown.

The killer, perhaps supported by an accomplice, waited for his victim to come out of a bar, then went into action, shooting from behind and then pulling the trigger one last time and disappearing into thin air.

While awaiting the autopsy ordered by the Lanusei Prosecutor's Office, the investigators work tirelessly to trace the motive and perpetrators of the crime. And it cannot be ruled out, also in light of the victim's precedents, that this murder committed at 9am on a summer morning is firmly intertwined with the events of the Ogliastra crime scene which, in recent years, led to the murder of Moses Cao , who disappeared on 18 September 2021 and was found dead on the following 22 November, and the attempted murder (16 September 2021) of Sandro Arzu, a fellow villager of Marongiu, who has been untraceable since 8 March 2023.
