The 50-year-old man arrested in the hamlet of San Basilio, on the old Sardinian Orientale, by the carabinieri of the Sinnai station for drug possession and dealing appeared before the judge. His lawyer requested and obtained defense terms. At the end of the hearing the arrest was validated with the man who was nevertheless released from prison pending the new hearing set for July 2nd.
The operation began after days of investigations, based on the cross-referencing of information collected in the area and on knowledge of local realities, which made it possible to contextualize the images found through the analysis of smartphones, seized during previous anti-drug operations.
The photos analyzed by the Corps technicians showed artisanal cannabis cultivations, located in secluded and difficult to locate locations. After formulating various hypotheses and checking multiple locations, the Sinnai police managed to locate the right site, one of the most remote areas of San Basilio. Here, two distinct cultivations of cannabis indica were found, with well-groomed plants, over one meter tall and already in inflorescence.
A stakeout was necessary to identify who was taking care of these crops. It was the 50-year-old who was immediately arrested (and then released from prison) and a 53-year-old who was instead reported to be on the loose. Both were found to have no criminal records.
During the searches, 68 cannabis indica plants, 90 grams of marijuana, 20 grams of hashish and 30 grams of kief were found in the 50-year-old's home. Furthermore, materials for packaging the doses and a sum of 630 euros were found.
In the 53-year-old's house, located next to that of the first, 28 cannabis indica plants, 20 grams of marijuana, packaging material and 120 euros in cash were found. The two are accused of cultivation and possession for the purpose of supplying a narcotic substance.
