Annarita Piras, Don Spanu's mother, dies of Nile fever in Cabras.

Always smiling, always with her sweet demeanor, and loved by all. Her name was Annarita Piras, 68, the woman from Cabras who died at the San Martino Hospital in Oristano due to complications from contracting West Nile virus.

The woman, who lost her husband several years ago, had long suffered from other illnesses. Annarita Piras was the mother of Father Maurizio Spanu, parish priest of the hamlet of Solanas, director of the Caritas Arborense, and chaplain of the Massama prison.

The funeral will be held tomorrow in Cabras . Many messages of condolences have been sent to Annarita Piras's family in recent hours.
