He had attended a baptism party last night and had remained in the hotel, Palazzo Tirso in Cagliari, apparently because he could not find his car keys . Here the former Cagliari footballer Andrea Capone spent - apparently alone - the night in a two-story suite where he was found dead this morning with head injuries .
According to an initial reconstruction, Capone, 43 years old, accidentally fell and hit his head .
Even from an initial external examination of the body by the medical examiner's staff, it seems that the wounds are compatible with a fall.
Investigators are still working on the scene, trying to reconstruct the former footballer's last hours and will presumably acquire footage from the hotel's internal cameras. The case is in the hands of the Police flying squad, but the mobile squad and the forensic team also intervened on the scene.
An autopsy will almost certainly also be performed.
