Almost 1,300 kilos of untraceable bluefin tuna intercepted in Sant'Antioco

The Coast Guard of Sant'Antioco has seized almost 1,300 kilos of untraceable bluefin tuna.

The operation was carried out two days ago as part of the monitoring of the fishing industry and the fight against illegal forms of fishing.

The checks were carried out at the landing points inside the Port of Sant'Antioco and in the fish wholesalers of the municipal area . In this way, 1,230 kg of fish species illegally detained Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus Thynnus) were intercepted and seized, about 8 thousand euros the value of the high penalties .

The fishing of this fish species is subject to multi-year catch plans by the European Community to allow its regular reproduction and is regulated by quotas for each European nation in the Mediterranean.
