Police caught them loading five large industrial pipes stolen from the construction site of the new Alghero ring road, in the Carrabuffas area, onto a truck. One of the three men was arrested red-handed on charges of aggravated theft, while the other two managed to escape, disappearing into the surrounding vegetation.

The incident dates back to the evening of October 5th, around 6:30 pm, when officers from the Alghero Police Station, engaged in a territorial control operation following the discovery of a homemade explosive device in the previous days, noticed three people busy moving construction materials and loading them onto the back of a truck.

Upon seeing the uniforms, two men fled, while the third, who was still in the vehicle, was apprehended. According to investigators' reconstruction, the three had just stolen from the construction site five industrial hoses, approximately six meters long and 70 centimeters in diameter, already placed on the truck bed and secured with cables for transportation.

The investigation also established that the truck had been borrowed by the arrested man, who was not a resident of Alghero and had come to the city specifically, according to investigators, to commit the theft. The vehicle and the recovered material were seized and made available to the judicial authorities. The man was taken to the police station and arrested on charges of aggravated theft.
