"Are you afraid our children will suffer the same fate as those who disappeared in Switzerland?" A phrase uttered by a man from Alghero to his ex-wife, which, among other charges, was included in the stalking trial.
The reference was to the two Swiss twins, just seven years old, taken by their father, Mathias Kaspar-Schepp, in 2011, after his divorce from his wife. They were never found after the man fled to Italy, which resulted in his suicide. The woman from Alghero had reported this and other threats allegedly made by her ex-husband in 2021, which were reported in the Sassari courtroom by prosecutor Alessia Sanna.
«He had violent behavior, even in the workplace - says the magistrate who had requested the one-year prison sentence - and he addressed the woman and children with offensive phrases».
According to defense attorneys Pietro Fresu and Donato Orfino, the defendant's conduct never escalated into anything violent.
Judge Valentina Nuvoli upgraded the charge to threats and handed down a four-month sentence.
