After the postponed return flight to Alghero, the outbound flight to Linate is officially brought forward, allowing those going to Milan for study, work or health reasons to extend their stay.
"Territorial continuity flights between Alghero airport and the hubs of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate are increasing, with much more convenient times for Sardinian passengers ", comments the Transport Councillor, Barbara Manca, after the videoconference meeting that took place today with Ita Airways.
On both routes, Ita Airways has added a pair of flights that now become structural.
Alghero – Milan Linate
The first flight from Riviera del Corallo to Milan Linate will depart at 7 am and no longer at 8.55 am , thus accommodating the requests expressed by the territory and by those who need to reach the Lombard capital early in the morning and thus have more time available. The study
A detailed study on demand levels that the department had transmitted and illustrated to the Ministry of Transport and Enac, the Region informs, «has demonstrated a significant growth in current demand levels compared to the reference levels considered by Ministerial Decree 466/2021 which is the basis for the sizing of minimum services. This study has made it possible to add new flights in a structural manner, and therefore not at the discretion of the carriers, on all routes in territorial continuity to and from Sardinia, including those of Alghero , which required a change in departure times to meet the needs of Sardinian citizens».
"What we have achieved - the words of councilor Barbara Manca - is a very important result and not at all obvious . In particular, the genesis of the territorial continuity of flights to and from Alghero of this latest call was complex and full of obstacles, most of which were generated by a Ministerial Decree that was severely undersized, both in terms of economic resources available and in terms of size (this latter problem is common to all connections). We therefore armed ourselves with patience and published a new call only for Alghero with many more resources, thus managing to assign the connections to Ita Airways. Furthermore - Manca specified - we took care of improving the Ministerial Decree, allowing the addition of new structural flights on all connections and the change of timetables agreed in these last hours with the carrier. We ask citizens for a few weeks of patience, necessary for the company to set up all the new connections, then Alghero will finally be connected to the Peninsula through timetables more congenial to the needs of citizens. Finally - the conclusion - I thank the entire structure of the Department of Transport for having worked assiduously to obtain these results which, I repeat, are far from being a given given the starting situation".
