A thousand sea urchins seized by the Alghero Coast Guard and two divers fined 4,000 euros. It is the result of a control activity carried out by the military of the district office under the coordination of the maritime direction of Olbia.

On Tuesday 21 March, after a long period of stakeout and observation from the ground, the men of the Captaincy surprised two unauthorized fishermen while they were busy fishing for sea urchins.

All the fish was seized and subsequently thrown back into the sea by the soldiers who intervened on board the CP 559 patrol boat, in areas difficult to access for any other fishermen. The Coast Guard's control activity aims to combat the phenomenon, in order to safeguard the protected fish stocks and the marine environment in general.
