Agent killed in car-truck collision, that desperate maneuver to avoid impact

But the return journey of Peppino Fois, assistant chief coordinator in the Nuoro prison, and the director of the institute, Patrizia Incollu, was suddenly interrupted at kilometer 18 of state road 389, in the Mamoiada area.
Their car, a Volkswagen Passat, collided head-on with the truck of a worker from Fonni. The agent, 52 years old, originally from Illorai, died despite several attempts at resuscitation by the 118 doctors . The prison director, however, was transported in very serious conditions to the San Francesco hospital, where she is hospitalized in the intensive care unit in reserved prognosis.
It was around 5.30pm when the Volkswagen driven by Fois was traveling in the direction of Nuoro. According to an initial reconstruction by the police, the heavy vehicle, an earthmoving truck proceeding in the opposite direction, driven by Bruno Loche from Fonno, was turning to enter the petrol station square at Janna 'e Ferru.
The accident occurred on a straight stretch, after a desperate maneuver by the Passat to divert the trajectory which failed, with the car slipping under the truck : the impact was extremely violent.
