The Extraordinary Commissioner of the Municipality of Nuoro, Giovanni Pirisi, has ordered the suspension of teaching activities for Monday, following the communication from the Abbanoa company regarding planned interventions on the water network in the city.
The closure concerns all schools, public and private, of all levels and grades located in the neighborhoods affected by the interruption of service: La Solitudine, Sa e Sulis, Irillai, Sa e Manca, Su Campu, Santu Predu, Preda Istrada, Corte e Susu, Santa Ruche, Su Cuzone, Ubisti, Piazza Italia and Su Serbadore. Specifically, the Liceo delle Scienze Umane in via Deffenu, the school building in via Tolmino, the nursery school in via delle Frasche, the primary and lower secondary school in via Malta, the nursery school in piazza Sebastiano Satta and the school in via Ballero will remain closed.
The suspension may also be extended to other schools in the affected areas, if the respective school principals assess that there are not sufficient water reserves to guarantee adequate hygienic-sanitary conditions. The decision was taken as a precaution, with the aim of protecting the health and safety of students, teachers and school staff. It should be remembered that in January, during the water emergency which was later resolved, a plan was drawn up to equip schools with water tanks, precisely to avoid suspensions of activities in the event of breakdowns or interruptions. Work which, evidently, has not yet been completed.
