Two of the people on board suffered minor injuries, while three others were taken to the Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari with critical conditions . Fortunately, their conditions are not serious.

Firefighters, ambulances, Carabinieri, and highway police were on site. Traffic was severely delayed. The Highway Police are conducting legal investigations, while ANAS (National Roads Authority) is conducting cleanup and safety operations . Traffic was diverted for several hours: those coming from Muravera were directed to kilometer 23 along the provincial road network, rejoining the Nuova Orientale Sarda at kilometer 15. Those traveling in the opposite direction were directed to the opposite route: they were diverted at kilometer 15 and rejoined at kilometer 23, thus bypassing the tunnel located at kilometer 19.300. The alternative route is longer and more tortuous, made even more difficult by the intense heat of the past few hours.
