Cold snap on the island, Civil Protection: "Snow even at low altitudes"

The arrival of cold air, including in Sardinia, was expected. Now, confirmation has arrived from the Civil Protection Department, which has issued a weather alert for snow, ice, and low temperatures across the entire island. Snowfall is also expected below 400 meters in Logudoro and Gallura.

"Starting in the early hours of January 7th," therefore from the middle of the night, we read, "isolated to scattered precipitation is expected, including showers or isolated thunderstorms, which could take the form of snow starting from 400 meters in the first part of the day."

According to the Civil Protection Department, snowfall " may locally and temporarily affect lower altitudes during more intense precipitation, especially in the northern sector. During the day , the freezing level will gradually rise , and with it the amount of snowfall."

At the same time, and this is especially true for those who have to travel by car, "there will be locally low temperatures and ice formations on the ground in inland areas."
