The big fire that broke out yesterday in Sorgono , in the locality of Monte Oe, destroyed 150 hectares of forest and cork oaks .

Clean-up operations have been underway since the early hours of today, to avoid restarting due to outbreaks: the teams on the ground are supported by the helicopter which has an operational base in the town of Mandrolisai.

Five Canadairs (two arriving from Ciampino), the Superpuma helicopter and other aircraft from the regional fire-fighting system were also used yesterday to block the front of the fire, which started around 10.30 am. Dozens of men and vehicles on the ground were deployed on the field.

During the most difficult phases, a sixty-eight year old from Atzara was overwhelmed by a vehicle of volunteers in maneuver: transferred to San Francesco di Nuoro in red code for some trauma, his life is not in danger. The man was opening the gate of his turf to facilitate a U-turn when he was run over.
